Zoom Teeth Whitening

Zoom Teeth Whitening

Nothing in this world captures attention quite like a beautiful smile filled with sparkly white teeth. However, as many people are aware, maintaining a white smile naturally can be an incredibly difficult process. Over time, our teeth yellow and stain due to the type of foods we eat, genetics, and how well we take care of our teeth. Not only can this impact your appearance, but it may even influence your self-esteem. If you’re less than happy with the current color of your teeth, then you’ll be happy to learn about Zoom, a tooth whitening system that works!

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a safe and easy in-office treatment system that leaves patients with a whiter smile. The procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp which activates the hydrogen peroxide and speeds up the whitening process. The entire procedure takes less than an hour to complete from start to finish.

Patients should expect to have a thorough cleaning prior to the Zoom whitening procedure. Next, the gums and lips will be prepped and covered so that only the teeth are exposed to the treatment. The gel is applied directly to the teeth, and then the light is placed on the teeth for 15 minutes. The gel has applied a total of three times.

During the 15-minute processing time, patients are encouraged to simply relax and read a book, watch TV, or listen to music. While the process is considered fairly comfortable, individuals with a strong gag reflex may be a little uncomfortable. Patients are sometimes concerned about teeth sensitivity following a whitening treatment, but a sensitivity-reducing gel is applied to help reduce this concern. Keep in mind; there is a little heat involved with this procedure, which may be the cause of discomfort for some patients.

How to Maintain Your Smile

Of course, Zoom treatments aren’t intended to yield permanent results. You’ll need to maintain the whitening. You’ll be given a Zoom in-home touch-up kit that includes custom-fitted trays for the best results. Your dentist will provide clear instructions about how to do the touch-up treatment in order to maintain your specific results.

You may be asked to avoid certain teeth-staining foods like coffee or red wine. Keep in mind; if you are a smoker, your results may start to diminish much faster than someone who does not.

It may also be beneficial to brush your teeth with whitening agents to go one step further in keeping those results.

Cost

The average cost for Zoom is usually around $500. This cost includes the take-home trays that you’ll need to maintain your results. However, because teeth whitening is considered a cosmetic procedure, insurance will not cover this tooth whitening system. Our office will provide you with a detailed cost analysis before starting the process so that you are sure to have a clear understanding of the final price.

Who Should Have Zoom Whitening Treatments?

This procedure is not recommended for individuals under the age of 13 or women who are pregnant or lactating. However, if you are of age and have stained or yellowed teeth, then you may be a candidate. A thorough examination by your dentist will determine if you are eligible for Zoom or other treatment options that may be more appropriate.
